Ms Shayesta Nishat Ahmed
Associate Fellow
Shayesta Nishat Ahmed is Associate Fellow at the Centre for Airpower Studies (CAPS), New Delhi. Her research project at CAPS pertains to Nuclear Weapon States: Evolving Strategies and Possible Futures. She also works on the broader questions surrounding nuclear security, strategy studies and maritime security. Previously, she was an Associate Fellow at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), New Delhi, where she was part of the Indo-Pacific cluster. She has been a Teaching Assistant for the course on Arms Control and Disarmament Diplomacy, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and has interned at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), Sapru House, New Delhi.
She completed her M.Phil from the Centre for International Politics, Organization, Diplomacy and Disarmament (CIPOD), Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her PhD thesis at the same centre looks at the pursuit of nuclear sea-based deterrence among major nuclear powers. She has published her work in several academic journals, web articles, and book chapters, apart from participating at multiple international and national conferences, seminars and workshops.
