Gp Capt TH Anand Rao                                                                                 Senior Fellow

Group Captain TH Anand Rao is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi. He is an Alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. Having served for more than 32 years in the Indian Air Force, he has held several operational and staff appointments including Flight Commander of a Fighter Squadron, Chief Operations Officer at two frontline air bases, Aerospace Safety and Inspection Officer, and Joint Director, Flying Training at Air Headquarters. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has flown various combat and training aircraft. He was awarded the Chief of Air Staff Commendation in 2011.

            Anand Rao is a keen observer of the space domain. His area of interest is Space Security and Policy Analysis. He has written many papers and articles on issues concerning ‘space security’. He has authored a book titled ‘India’s Space Security Dilemma’ which was released in 2021. His present topic of research is Space Domain Awareness.

Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) was established in 2001 as an autonomous defence research and analysis body for research and focused analyses on issues related to national security, defence, and aerospace issues in the evolving strategic and international security environment. Its objective is to facilitate greater understanding of these issues amongst the Armed Forces, the strategic community and the public besides contributing to policy generation and decision-making.
