Colonel Amit Bedi

Senior Fellow

Colonel Amit Bedi is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Military Academy (IMA). He was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK RIF) in December 1999. The officer has attended prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Wellington and the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. 

Col Bedi has commanded his battalion in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Manipur and has held diverse staff and instructional appointments, including Colonel General Staff (GS) at Command Headquarters and Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, Grade 1 appointments at Infantry Brigade and Army Headquarters, Instructor at the Infantry School, Mhow, and Military Observer with the United Nations in Ivory Coast.

A keen observer of the geopolitical landscape, Col Bedi is presently a Senior research fellow at Centre for Airpower studies (CAPS) and has conducted research on hybrid operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR). His current research focuses on the relationship between the media and the military.
