Air Vice Marshal Ashish Vohra VSM (Retd) is an alumni of 70th NDA course and was commissioned into fighter stream of Indian Air Force on 13 June 1987.  The Air Officer superannuated on 31 Dec 2023 after putting in slightly over 36 and half years of Service in IAF. The Air Officer has more than 2800 hours fighter flying to his credit and is Fully Ops on the MiG-21 (T-77), MiG-21 (T-96) and MiG-27 aircraft and has also flown the Su-30 MKI.

The Air Officer is a graduate of FSL/ FCL Course, 59th Air Staff Course, 35th HACC course and 54th NDC. He has had instructional tenures at MOFTU and TACDE.  He has commanded a MiG-27 Fighter Squadron as a Wing Commander, a frontline fighter station as a Group Captain and fighter base as an Air Commodore in an operational area.   He has had staff appointments at Air HQ (VB) as DPO-4, Chief Operational Officer at a front line fighter station and Air-1 at Central Air Command.  He has had a foreign tenure as the Air Attaché at the Embassy of India, Moscow (Russia).  Prior to the last assignment as ACIDS Int-C (International Mil Co-op), he was Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Inspection) at Air HQ (RK Puram). The Air Officer has joined Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) as Additional Director General on 01 April 2024

The Air Officer was commended by the Chief of the Air Staff on 08 October 1998 and was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) from the President of India on 26 January 2014.

The Air Officer plays basketball, volleyball, cricket and golf. His interests include general reading and travelling.

The Air Officer is married to Mrs Neeraj Vohra, who has been working in the educational field for more than 16 years.  They are blessed with a son, who is a Data Scientist working in New York.
